Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today advised his predecessor Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to stop harping on the past about his loyalty to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. Zahid said he respected Muhyiddin's feelings, but added that the Umno deputy president should "move on". "I respect what he said and I respect his feeling... let's not be nostalgic about something that did not become a reality," he said in Kuala Lumpur today. Zahid was commenting on Muhyiddin's speech at a forum in Johor Baru yesterday, where the latter had revealed that he refused the urging of former prime minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to contest the Umno presidency as the position belonged to Najib, who was then the party deputy president. Muhyiddin had said his refusal to deny Najib the position was proof of his loyalty and said Umno members should not sideline him after being dropped from the cabinet for openly questioning Najib over 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB). Muhyiddin was dropped as deputy prime minister in July and Zahid took over the position. Zahid today said every Umno member should be loyal to the current leadership. "Any individual who thinks that a leader is undeserving of a leadership post, that person should offer himself and prove it to the people that he is better to lead," said Zahid, adding that the leader could be tested in the general election. "It is better for us to wait for the general election to see who the rakyat will choose at that time." – October 25, 2015. MORE TO COME]]>
