No need for placards, we’ve always opposed Najib, says PAS

PAS MPs may not have held up placards questioning Datuk Seri Najib Razak's RM2.6 billion donation in Parliament yesterday, but they are no less adamant on demanding answers on the controversial fund transfer, party vice-president Idris Ahmad said today. PAS had always been consistent questioning the prime minister for transparency over the matter, he said. The Bukit Gantang MP was asked to comment on the action by opposition MPs who held up placards reading "Mana RM2.6 billion?" (Where is the RM2.6 billion) placards yesterday after Najib's tabling of Budget 2016. Only two out of 14 PAS MPs – Datuk Mahfuz Omar (Pokok Sena) and Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (Rantau Panjang) – had done so. "We are not that stupid to support RM2.6 billion," Idris, referring to the controversial donation, told The Malaysian Insider "We have fought the RM 2.6 billion (issue) in newspapers. "There is no (issue on whether to hold the placards or not). There were PAS MPs who did it, no problem," he added. Idris said the PAS MPs who did not join PKR, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara MPs in doing so might had other things to do. "But we are against it. You can refer to our earlier statements which state so." Veteran newsman and blogger Datuk A. Kadir Jasin in a post today noted that PAS MPs had not joined other opposition lawmakers in questioning Najib about the money with the placards. PAS is now a lone party in the opposition bloc, having refused to join Pakatan Harapan which comprises PKR, DAP and Amanah. It no longer has ties with DAP and brands Amanah leaders "traitors" as they had left PAS to form the party. Najib is under pressure over the RM2.6 billion credited into his personal accounts, a large sum of which was channeled before the 2013 general election. He faces a possible no-confidence vote in Parliament over the matter amid speculation that MPs might vote down his budget at the end of debates. Mahfuz who held the placard yesterday also brought it to the Parliament lobby with Tumpat MP Datuk Kamaruddin Jaffar, former PAS MP who joined PKR. PAS MPs who were in the Dewan Rakyat at that time but did not hold it were secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan ( Kota Baru), information chief Nasaruddin Hassan ( Temerloh) and youth chief Nik Mohd Nik Abduh Nik Aziz (Pasir Mas). – October 24, 2015.]]>
