Ahmad Bashah promises to work 7 days a week for Kedahans

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah has pledged to work seven days a week and said he did not lose his cool over accusations of having the tendency to doze off. Instead, he described himself as someone who did not like protocol, and that his door was always open to the public who needed help. "I work seven days a week, I don't have a problem working non-stop for the sake of the people. "In fact, my door is always open to them," he said in an interview published on MStar Online today. As for the images of him dozing off that went viral online, Ahmad Bashah said it was not fair that the issue had become polemic,  adding that  other politicians have also done the same when they were engrossed in something. "Shutting the eyes does not mean we are sleeping. "We also close our eyes when praying. "In fact even in Parliament, I have seen MPs closing their eyes. "It is common, when someone closes their eyes, it could be because it helps them to listen more attentively," he said. He added that his priority now would be to ensure that all the promises in the manifesto are delivered and to implement the policies that have been decided on in preparation for the general election. "We are not too far away from a general election. "So we have to reevaluate all the promises made in the last election, when we promise, we must deliver, that is why it is important to go back to the promises in the manifesto to check if they have been implemented or not," he said. The Bakar Bata assemblyman also wants all promises made in the past to be met in the best possible way. "Maybe some representatives made promises to the voters in their constituencies, so now my job is to ensure these promises are delivered to be best of our ability. "If not people will say they were just empty promises, then what do we promise again in the next elections? "Therefore, they must be met before the people get angry with us," he said. – February 14, 2016.]]>
