Annuar’s remark shows they wish to arrest me, says Dr Mahathir

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he believed Umno was issuing a warning to him when the new information chief said he could be angling for arrest with criticism against Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali. In his latest blog posting, the former prime minister said this was clear when Tan Sri Annuar Musa suggested that his constant criticism was an attempt to get arrested. "The new publicity chief suggests I am doing this because I want to be arrested. "That is as clear a warning as can be of the wish to arrest me," he said. Annuar, on February 6, in response to one of Dr Mahathir's blog post, said the former Umno leader appeared to be either courting a sedition charge or believed he was above the law. "It could be that he, being a shrewd political strategist that he is, was merely trying to garner sympathy from the public and to mobilise support for his cause to get the PM removed by inciting the authority to act against him, hence garnering sympathy for him as a former prime minister and a former Umno president," he said in a statement. He also cautioned that the authorities would still have to act against Dr Mahathir if police reports were lodged against him. Failure to act, he said, would lead to the authorities being perceived as being selective. Annuar reportedly said that anyone who had basic knowledge of Malaysian laws would know that Dr Mahathir's blog post on February 3, titled "AG to AG", was seditious in nature. – February 15, 2016.]]>
