‘Bayu Air’ has no permit or licence, say civil aviation authorities

The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has not received any application for a permit or licence to operate an airline called Bayu Air. Its director-general, Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, regretted the Bayu Air announcement that it would start services in August, despite not applying and obtaining approval from the authorities. "A new airline wanting to operate scheduled flights or unscheduled flights must first apply for permits and licences from the Ministry of Transport and the DCA before making any announcement. "This is contained in rule 10 and 17 of the Civil Aviation Regulations," he said in a statement today.
