No 1MDB land deal in Penang, says Guan Eng

The state will not allow any land transfer deal involving 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), The Sunday Star reports Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng as saying. Lim said it was up to the federal government and housing developers to bid for the 94.7ha land in Air Itam but warned that the state would not approve any land transfer involving the Finance Ministry-owned strategic development company. He said this in response to a report yesterday that two Penang-based companies have been short-listed from a tender exercise to buy over the development of a piece of land in Air Itam from 1MDB. "We are still waiting for a report from the government and I hope whoever bids for the land will remember that any transaction involving it will not be approved," he was quoted as saying. The daily reported that the two companies shortlisted were a joint venture between Ideal Property and BSG groups, and a company related to Goh Choon Lye – a well-known developer in the state. – February 14, 2016.]]>
