No reason for more foreign workers when economy is slow, says PKR Wanita

PKR Wanita has questioned Putrajaya's rationale to bring more foreign workers into the country when it was facing an economic slowdown. The wing's deputy chief Haniza Talha said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi must explain the logic of the decision to bring in 1.5 million Bangladeshi workers over the next three years. She said it was a known fact that that the country was facing an economic slowdown now, and to say that it needed so many foreign workers was similar to saying that Malaysia was overflowing with wealth. "Our own people already do not have enough, need to take up two jobs to survive, yet the DPM (Zahid) wants to bring in more people to share our subsidised rice sugar and other essential items meant for locals? "How can the construction industry be flourishing in this climate of uncertainty, if I may ask? Already investors are either merging or pulling out from our country, but Zahid says we need more workers. "Where is the logic? I demand that the DPM explain this illogical move. Has the government made a study on how locals can be employed rather than accepting more foreigners?" she said in a statement today. – February 14, 2016. MORE TO COME]]>
