Selangor has highest dengue hot spots

Selangor has recorded the highest hot spots or active localities in the country, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. Some 174 or 64% out of the 274 hot spots nationwide up to last February 20 were from this state. This is followed by Johor (66), Terengganu (10), Pulau Pinang (7), Sabah (6), Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and Perak (4 each), Negeri Sembilan (2) and Sarawak (1), he said in his blog. Meanwhile according to the ministry's website, iDengue, among the hot spot areas in Selangor are Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat Sepang and Gombak districts. Commenting on the matter, Health Ministry Vector Borne Sector head Dr Rose Nani Mudin said Selangor has many hot spots due to overcrowding and failure to maintain cleanliness in high risk areas, including residential areas, construction sites and public spots like recreational parks. – Bernama, February 26, 2016.]]>
