Umno suspends Muhyiddin

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was suspended from the party today by its highest decision making body, the Supreme Council, some seven months after Datuk Seri Najib Razak, party president and prime minister, axed him from government. Muhyiddin, who was not at the meeting, was suspended after a majority of the 25 Supreme Council members voted on a motion for his suspension at the party's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today. No time limit has been set for his suspension as a member but this means that Muhyiddin will lose the deputy president's post which he has held since 2009. Muhyiddin had been deputy prime minister but was dropped in a cabinet reshuffle last July after openly questioning Najib about 1Malaysia Development Bhd. Since then he has continued to criticise the prime minister over the state-owned investment firm's alleged scandals as well as the RM2.6 billion donation to Najib's accounts. – February 26, 2016.
