Be a ‘gentleman’, leave GLC posts, Sabah Umno leader tells Dr Mahathir

Sabah Umno leader, Datuk Datu Nasrun Datu Mansur is urging Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be a "gentleman" and let go of his government-linked companies (GLCs) posts since he no longer had confidence Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's leadership. The Silam MP said he was worried about sabotage by the former prime minister, who has started the Save Malaysia movement and Citizens' Declaration that includes the opposition in seeking Najib's removal. "Dr Mahathir no longer believes in the prime minister's leadership. Therefore he must be a 'gentleman', let go of his positions in companies (GLCs) which are owned by the government," he said while debating the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's address in Dewan Rakyat today. The retired leader is currently chairman of national carmaker Proton Holdings Bhd, adviser to oil company Petronas, and chairman of the Perdana Leadership Foundation. Datu Nasrun (pic) said Dr Mahathir's "collaboration" with opposition members and civil society groups clearly showed an attempt to bring down the government. "We do not want the positions he holds to have a sabotage element. I am sure that when Dr Mahathir is willing to work with Pakatan (Harapan), surely they will want to topple the government. "This creates a challenge in government administration and destroys Malaysia's image to investors," he said. Datu Nasrun also urged Najib to drop Dr Mahathir from any Putrajaya appointments. – March 8, 2016.]]>
