Expel those conspiring with opposition, urges Malacca Umno

The Malacca Umno Liaison Body has suggested to Supreme Council to expel members who are conspiring with the opposition. Datuk Seri Idris Haron, chairman of the state liaison body, said Umno members who were involved must be expelled because they no longer had the Umno "spirit". "It is illogical for someone who still wants to be together with Umno but does not want to be with the president (Datuk Seri Najib Razak), and in fact wants to remove him illegally, is this the real behaviour of an Umno member? "Umno has its own regulations and constitution by electing its president and other officials in a democratic manner, so adopt this process in the best manner," he said at a press conference after chairing a meeting of the Malacca Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) Liaison Bodies late last night. Last Friday, former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir were among 50 people who signed the People's Declaration supporting the removal of Najib, led by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Idris, who is also Malacca chief minister, said what was also regretted was Dr Mahathir and Umno members were willing to conspire with the DAP, especially its veteran leader Lim Kit Siang in making the public declaration. He said Malacca BN also suggested to the government that Dr Mahathir be removed from all positions given to him including in the government-linked corporation such as Petronas and Proton. Idris said Melaka BN gave its solid support to Najib as the prime minister and Umno president, and urged all BN component party leaders to take action against their party members involved in making the declaration. – Bernama, March 7, 2016.]]>
