Guan Eng questions speaker’s refusal to allow 1MDB query

DAP lawmaker Lim Guan Eng has questioned Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia for rejecting his question in the Dewan Rakyat today on the Swiss probe into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). The Penang chief minister said he failed to understand the reason for the rejection, that his question was based on presumption. "I don't see how it is based on presumption, it is the same as the question on Zika virus, we don't have any case registered here yet, but the question was allowed," he said. Lim in his written question asked whether Bank Negara and other agencies were assisting the Swiss attorney-general in the probe. "If we are not allowed to get an explanation, the purpose of this august house as the voice of the people and to seek accountability from the government will not be achieved," he said.
