Home Ministry to set up better border security agency

The Home Ministry will set up a more comprehensive border security agency, says its Department of Internal Security and Public Order. Department director Datuk Muhammad Fuad Abu Zarim said the agency would combine the roles of all enforcement agencies operating at the border and would be led by the police. "Several workshops and discussions are being held between the 17 relevant agencies to determine the format and more effective ways to address issues at the border, especially in Kedah and Kelantan." He said this to reporters after handing over three Sealegs Amphibious boats to the East Region Marine Police Force at Pengkalan Kubor Marine Police Base in Tumpat, Kelantan, today. Fuad said the setting up of the agency would be announced once a mutual agreement was reached between various bodies. – Bernama, March 2, 2016.]]>
