Like Muhyiddin, Shafie and Mukhriz to stay put in Umno

Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal today said decision makers in Umno should have followed procedures when they decided to suspend Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and lauded the former deputy president's move to seek answers from the Registrar of Societies. He said the correct way would be to allow for an investigation to be carried out by the Disciplinary Committee, and determined if Muhyiddin had gone against the struggles of the party.  "In this case, investigation and judgment was done by a certain group, and then they fill in the role. "How is that just?" he asked. Shafie said that if the matter had been brought up with the Disciplinary Committee, why was it that Muhyiddin was never called up before the committee to state his case? "We want to be critical and ask questions because we want to know more, but that does not mean we want to destroy the party," he said. Shafie added that he would remain in Umno and that the question of leaving the party did not arise. Also present at the conference was former Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who said that he too has decided to stay on with Umno and become a critical voice from within. He added that his decision did not deviate from the move taken by his father, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who had chosen to leave the party. "Our approach might be different, but the principle is the same, which is to uphold the truth and for the truth to be revealed. "And if there has been any wrongdoing, action must be taken. "So based on that principle, I am with Tan Sri Muhyiddin and Tan Sri Shafie and will remain in Umno," Mukhriz said. – March 3, 2016.]]>
