Najib holds pre-council meeting with BN lawmakers

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak tonight held a pre-council meeting ahead of the Dewan Rakyat sitting on Monday, at Seri Perdana, the official residence of the prime minister in Putrajaya. Kuala Pilah MP Datuk Seri Hasan Malek said the meeting was a normal practice by the Barisan Nasional (BN) before Parliament sittings. He said the meeting which began at about 8.30pm was attended by almost all BN MPs. "It is nothing unusual as it is held each time before the Dewan Rakyat meets and it is held several times a year. The prime minister met BN members of the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara just now. "He (Najib) gave a briefing on the list of questions submitted for answers during the sitting, and the ministers to be present to answer during winding up sessions," he told reporters after the one-and-half-hour meeting. He said Najib told all BN MPs to carry out their responsibilities sincerely apart from emphasising on the presence of MPs during the coming session. "His message was to work diligently and sincerely as well as to look after their respective constituencies," he said. Asked whether the meeting discussed the Citizens' Declaration signed yesterday to pressure Najib to resign, Hasan said: "It was only a pre-council preparatory meeting". The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah is scheduled to open the sitting on Monday, the first meeting for the fourth session of Parliament. – Bernama, March 5, 2016.]]>
