No-confidence vote the way to oust PM, says PAS sec-gen

PAS will support a change of prime minister but though a vote of no-confidence, secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Yassin said, explaining why the party did not sign the Citizens' Declaration and Save Malaysia movement spearheaded by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. He said while PAS agreed with the plan to remove Najib, there were other ways without having to wait for a general election to be held. "One way is through a motion of no-confidence in Parliament," he said. When asked if PAS would support such a motion, Takiyuddin said the Islamist party would decide once the motion was tabled. "We have always accepted that a motion of no confidence is one way to remove the prime minister. This is a democratic process. "But we want the leadership and the whole system of government to be changed, not just to change that one person," he added. Takiyuddin said PAS was not clear as to what Dr Mahathir's movement was all about. – March 7, 2016. MORE TO COME]]>
