Pakatan distances from Dr Mahathir’s presser tomorrow

Pakatan Harapan is not involved in tomorrow's press conference by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, says the coalition's secretariat chief Datuk Saifuddin Abdulllah. He said leaders from the coalition who attend the event would be doing so in their personal capacity. "Pakatan Harapan has nothing to do with what Dr Mahathir does, Pakatan Harapan will not be involved tomorrow," he said at the PKR headquarters today. "But if there are one or two leaders from political parties in Pakatan Harapan coalition who attend, they will be doing so in their personal capacity," he said. He also said reports quoting PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar on the press conference between Dr Mahathir and Pakatan were taken out of context. "I wasn't there when she was asked, but she told us that her statement was taken out of context. "My understanding is that she was trying to explain that she knows about the meeting tomorrow with Dr Mahathir, and that she knows there are individuals from Pakatan who have met Dr Mahathir before and who might be attending the meeting tomorrow, and that all this is done by our friends in Pakatan in their personal capacity," said Saifuddin. – March 3, 2016.
