Parliamentary reforms to be tabled this session, says Pandikar

The first phase of parliamentary reforms will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat before the current session ends on April 7, Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia said today. He said the Cabinet had already agreed to three out of four of the amendments he first recommended last year. They were the introduction of Ministers' Question Time on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, a Special Chamber to debate matters of urgent public importance, and reducing the period for MPs to submit questions from 14 days to 10. "In this session we will meet about this and the matter will be tabled within this session," Pandikar told a press conference in Parliament today. However, the Cabinet was still studying the fourth proposal, which was to set up new select committees. – March 9, 2016. MORE TO COME]]>
