The Selangor Islamic Department (Jais) has warned of stern action against Shias in the state as they have deviated from the "true Islamic faith". Jais director Datuk Haris Kasim said this was consistent with the verdict reached by the Selangor fatwa committee on October 17, 2013, that Shia teachings deviated from the teachings of Islam, according to the view of Sunni followers. "Any individual found to be practising Shiah ideology will face stern action for committing an offence under the Selangor state law and upon conviction, may be fined or jailed," he said in a statement today. He said JAIS would continue to monitor activities of adherents of the ideology through a joint operation carried out in collaboration with the Home Ministry and the police, particularly on Karbala Day, an event celebrated by Shias. Haris urged those with information on Shia activities to lodge a complaint with Jais at 1800-88-2424. – Bernama, October 24, 2015.]]>
