Remains of 4 Orang Asli pupils to be claimed tomorrow

The remains of four Sekolah Kebangsaan Tohoi pupils found in Sungai Perias will be claimed by their families tomorrow. The remains belonged to Haikal Yaakob,8; Linda Rosli,8; Ika Ayel,9; and Juvina David,7. Their families were allowed to claim the remains after identification through DNA testing were done by the Chemistry Department. Ika's father, Ayel Majid,48, said the four pupils will be buried simultaneously according to customs of the Temiar in Kampung Penad. "I am eager to bring the remains of my daughter Ika home. I hope to put this tragedy behind me," he said when met at Pos Tohoi in Gua Musang today. Meanwhile, Sobrie Latip, 25, said he was not disappointed that DNA tests found that the first remain found on October 7 was not that of his daughter Sasa, eight. "I hope the search and rescue team can find Sasa, even if they are only skeletal remains," he added. Seven SK Tohoi pupils were reported missing on August 23 after fleeing from their hostel for fear of punishment for swimming in the river. Two of the pupils, Norieen Yaakob,10, and Miksudiar Aluj,11, were found alive on October 9 after going missing for 48 days in the jungle. – Bernama, October 24, 2015.]]>
