More evacuees leave relief centres as Sarawak flood subsides

Three more flood relief centres were closed this afternoon leaving three more still active in the district of Serian, Sarawak which are sheltering 1,135 victims from 374 families. State Civil Defence Department public relations officer Siti Huzaimah Ibrahim said 149 flood victims had been allowed to return home and more would be doing so if the weather remained fine till tonight. The floods which hit the state since Saturday displaced 7,965 residents from 2,051 families who had to temporarily take shelter at 25 relief centres in Kuching, Serian (13), Bau (14), Samarahan (5), Padawan (1) and Simunjan (1). – Bernama, February 25, 2016.]]>
