We respect decision to suspend Muhyiddin, says MIC president

MIC respects the decision of the Umno Supreme Council to suspend Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin from the post of party deputy president as the right of the party, said its president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam. "They have made a decision. We will not get involved in the activities of another Barisan Nasional (BN) party. I think the BN party has got its own right to take whatever decision which it thinks to be appropriate. "So whatever they decide, it is their internal party affair. MIC will respect the decision of the party," he said at a media conference after officiating the Workshop on the Social Media's Strategic Coordination and Management today. Dr Subramaniam was commenting on the decision of the Umno Supreme Council yesterday in suspending Muhyiddin from the post of party deputy president effective immediately until the next Supreme Council election. Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor announced the decision after the meeting. The tasks of the deputy president will be carried out by Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.   Dr Subramaniam said MIC too had carried out such action and would do so again for the good of the party if any MIC member were found to have breached party discipline. "We have also suspended people. We have expelled people too because we felt it was right and the party needs to do it." – Bernama, February 27, 2016.]]>
