Only supporting documents from 1MDB audit report are secret, says Nur Jazlan

Only supporting documents from the auditor-general (A-G) that accompany the Public Accounts Committee's (PAC) report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) are classified under the Official Secrets Act 1972 (OSA), says Deputy Home Minister I, Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed. He said PAC's summarised report can be tabled in Parliament. "The report classified under OSA is the A-G's report. It must be made clear to avoid any misunderstanding," he said. He said the PAC needed the consensus of all panel members to ensure the report from the committee had credibility. "The PAC report will be accompanied by support documents from the A-G. Since the A-G report is a support document to the PAC report, it can be tabled," said Nur Jazlan, the former PAC chairman, commenting on the uncertainty surrounding the tabling of the A-G and PAC report in Parliament. Yesterday, PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin said the A-G classified the final report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) 1972 in light of information leaks on its interim report submitted last July.
